I think I heard happy gnawing noises. Hope they were doggy-approved chewy things. :)
I had to chuckle when you said "Don't just write to write." I'm doing NanoWriMo, and I am more inclined to write when I think of something for the characters to do, but I'm having to just sit down and write sometimes. Needless to say, it's not looking good for the end of November deadline! :P
I spend the majority of my time making up stories about people who don't really exist. I'm lucky that the people I love call this creative instead of crazy. Dutton published my first novel, STAY, in 2010, and it's now a Plume paperback!

Thanks for the tips! A good follow up question would be, "So how do you find the time to make video responses to reader questions?"
You are so very cute. And this is great advice for writing a book or just accomplishing anything you really want to do -- small deadlines!
